DRIVER COMPETITION
Are you aware of other drivers?
Mr.Smith asked. The courtesy driver competition is to be run over the next
12 months and is aimed at finding the most courteous driver in the North
and North West of Tasmania - the driver that cares for other road
users.
The
program initiative idea has come from
Mr. Smith
said, the awareness program initiative of caring for others will be judged
on those drivers who allowed people in difficult situations; time to enter
a busy roadway, time for traffic to merge safely, time for pedestrians to
safely cross the road, time for new drivers to gain experience with
understanding and time to think can I help?
All these
small gestures will hopefully be rewarded with a slight wave of the hand
in acknowledgement that someone cares. Our roads and our people
will be the winner every day.
Road safety is an area we should all care about, Mr Smith said. If
this competition encourages one driver to take the time, we will all be a
lot safer.
